We are delighted to welcome new members. Please see this notice relating to our search for an alto.
Please contact us if you are interested in joining the choir. We’d love to hear from you!
As well as our concerts, some of us sometimes sing at weddings. We regularly travel abroad and have sung in many inspiring venues including Notre Dame in Paris, the Cathedral in Santiago de Compostela and St. Peter’s Basilica, Rome.
Our repertoire ranges from renaissance polyphony through to contemporary works. We love to sing Byrd, Tallis, Victoria and Palestrina, as well as later composers such as Poulenc, Whitacre and Lauridsen. Bach, Mozart and Beethoven also feature.
Rehearsals are generally from 7.30pm to 9.30pm on Fridays at the Emsworth Community Centre, PO10 7DF, and some of us visit a pub afterwards.
We encourage singers to attend as many rehearsals as possible and to be prepared to put in additional time at home for note learning. However, we have our own home-grown midi file page to help members to learn the current repertoire.
It is very helpful if you can sight read music, and it’s essential that you can hold your own musical line. There are frequent opportunities for semi-chorus or solo work. Entry is on completion of a successful audition with the Musical Director.
