Programme Notes:

Our programme includes Miserere by both Allegri and James MacMillan, with Fraser Tannock (Trumpet). Allegri’s delicious Miserere forms the central part of a stunning concert for choir and solo trumpet at the Church of the Holy Spirit on July 19th. The work will be performed in a new version, with the soaring trumpet of Fraser Tannock being added over the top of the famously high soprano line. James MacMillan’s music will also feature prominently, with one of his Strathclyde motets and his Miserere also in the programme. His glorious In Splendoribus, written for solo trumpet and choir, is rapidly becoming a favourite of classical music lovers due to its sensuous choral harmony and hauntingly beautiful trumpet lines.
